Overview
In the United States, there are approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants. According to the American Immigration Council, there are 120,000 undocumented people in Connecticut. An undocumented migrant is defined as an individual who has entered the United States without the proper visa to do so, or entered legally with a valid non-immigrant visa that has expired. Since they do not have work authorization, undocumented migrants have few privileges. Every day they are at risk of deportation, yet they continue to stay in the country for better opportunities for themselves and their families. This page will cover the constitutional and legal rights that undocumented immigrants still hold in spite of the presumptions often held towards these individuals. We hope that this page can provide knowledge and resources for those who teach and guide undocumented youth.
